From Pathetique to Moonlight

After one whole year of Pathetique Sonata in 2009… I finally can play one third of this piano piece from memory…

But now, I am thinking of another piano piece for 2010… the Moonlight Sonata also by Beethoven (4 page long!).

Always loved the Moonlight… right from the start with C# and the mesmerizing repetitive G# C# E… then to B… then to A#l F#  then back to low G#… as if there were this dark black cloud moving over slowly to cover the Moon… so the base representing the Moon went deeper and deeper and deeper… … …

The beauty of the music is beyond what my command of the English language to describe… I can only say… I so love Beethoven’s sadness!

PS: the pieces I am playing are the simplified version from Amsco’s Piano Pieces fro Adult Beginners.

Fujifilm HS10

Fujifilm introduces FinePix HS10 with 30x optical zoom!

 fujifilmhs10-lg1

fujifilmhs10-lg2

I am attracted to the fact that this camera has the versatility and performance of an SLR system without the bulk or expense. It offers an unprecedented feature set that combines a powerful 24-720mm (30x) zoom lens with sophisticated photographic controls, advanced functionality and SLR-like handling in a single compact, affordable unit.

With a range that would require at least two bulky ‘super zoom’ lenses on an SLR, the FinePix HS10’s built-in 30x wide-tele zoom lens is its crowning glory, encompassing virtually every photographic requirement in a single compact unit. Furthermore, because the lens and body on the FinePix HS10 are built as a closed unit, it eliminates the possibility of dust on the lens and Sensor - a serious problem when removing lenses on a digital SLR.

The twist-barrel manual zoom control enables the photographer to make precision adjustments, and zooming is faster and more accurate than with the powered zooms traditionally used in this class of camera.

Company 101

Companies are registered legal entities formed by several persons that can own property, draw contracts and employ people.

The most common type of company in Malaysia is a company limited by shares (public limited and private limited companies).

Private limited companies cannot sell shares to the public, and are distinguished by the appellation "Sendirian Berhad", shortened to "Sdn Bhd" or "S/B".

Public limited companies source their capital by selling shares to the public, and are distinguished by the appellation "Berhad", shortened to "Bhd".

Companies in Malaysia are governed by the Companies Act 1965, which protects the rights and interests of shareholders and investors, and provides regulations for the incorporation of companies, the formulation of company constitutions, management and closures.

A company must have a minimum of two members, but a private limited company is limited to 50 members (public limited companies have no member limit).

A minimum paid-up capital of only RM2 is needed to start a private limited company, while public limited companies need a paid-up capital of not less than RM60mil (if it seeks to be listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange Main Board) or not less than RM40mil (if it seeks to be listed on the KLSE Second Board).

Too Clever

MW msn me and the following conversations took place:

MW: Do you like hazelnut?
Me: Nope

MW: Do you like blueberries?
Me: Nope

Me:
If you are thinking of buying me a birthday cake.
I can tell you I like mango cheese cake and only if it’s from Uncle Biscuit!

MW: So clever!

I am such an “no surprise” person…
I will know what you are up to and burst your whatever surprise plan immediately…
in a way, you can say I am a “no fun” gal!

I remember when I was at secondary school, our teacher lead us a guessing game…
and I was the only person who guessed the right answer immediately.
But instead of praising me, teacher said, “You are too sharp… you saw what others couldn’t see. This could mean you would lead an unhappy life.”

I didn’t understand why she said that then… but now, as I “aged”… I couldn’t have agreed more with her.

A lot times, I rather I am not that “conscious”…

Yumiko

Here’s Yumiko…
my brother’s pet in KL (well technically its his girlfriend’s).

Yumiko

Look at that angry face… so cute right!

This little girl is only a quarter of Little Dan (aka Giant/Gigantic Dan)’s size!

But she has an attitude too!

LD is a Havanese?

DSC00021x
This was Little Dan when I first saw him at his birth place… Auntie FS’s house! He was such a tiny puppy. In fact he was the smallest amongst all his other siblings.

Auntie FS has no idea who is his dad (LD has a very “naughty” mom) but I was told his mother is a Shihtzu mix…

DSC00024

Anyway, as this boy starts to grow day by day (literally)…

He is now this huge… so we can no longer call him “Little” Dan… he’s now known as “Giant Dan”!

 DSC07810x

Looking at him, I could find no traits of a Shihtzu… the size, the eyes, the jaws, the paws… is NO SHIHTZU at all!

As a matter of fact, he actually looks like a Havanese
A breed I first encountered in a dog breed book at Times Bookstore. First glance at the picture of a Havenese, I went “that’s exactly how Dan Dan looks like!”

Evening Primrose Oil

Age is catching up on me… and I’ve decided to take good care of myself for the ferocious year of the TIGER!

It costs to be a woman… a healthy and pretty one that is!
This is my first investment to better health…
a bottle of EPO capsules which I bought from Watson at RM52+.

I’ve started taking this supplement today… 17.02.2010.

primrose

Here’s how an Evening Primrose looks like:

The flowers open in the evening and hence the name “Evening” Primrose.

Evening Primrose is a North American native biennial plant.  It is found east of the Rockies to the Atlantic. Naturalized in Britain but found all over the world. It grows by roadsides, railway banks and waste places in dry open soils, gravelly places, meadows and old fields.

The flowers open in the evening and close up during the day and are strongly scented with a delicious sweet perfume which attracts pollinating moths.

The entire plant is edible, gather edible roots and leaves in spring may be frozen, gather flowers, buds and young seed pods in bloom, gather entire plant in fall and dry for later herb use.

The fruit is an elongate capsule containing many tiny reddish seeds.

Evening Primrose Oil is made from pressing oil from the tiny seeds. You can also grind the seeds of Evening Primrose and use them as you would flax seed.

Evening Primrose Oil has been used for decreasing the risk of heart disease by lowering cholesterol and by decreasing the risk of blood clots (decreased platelet aggregation). It has also been used for controlling symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), to reduce breast pain, to decrease symptoms of cystic breast disease as well as for skin conditions (eczema).

Basically a good supplement for the ladies!

CNY Soft Drink Diet

This year, we offer 4 types of soft drinks for our CNY Family Reunion Dinner guest… and that means I will  “inevitably” be drinking at least 3 cans of soft drink a day during the festive season (of a full week)…

So I cautiously check out the calorie content of each soft drink!
Guess which is the most “fattening” drink!

P1110256x

100 plus: 65 calories
Coke: 102 calories
Zappel: 113 calories
Ice Lemon Tea: 114 calories
Shandy: 134.4 calories

I have to jog for about 25 min to get rid of one can of Shandy!
Imagine that!

Even if I walk up the stairs for 3o min I only burn 219 calories!
That’s just two cans of Coke!

And I will have to cycle (at leisure speed) for 30 min to get rid of a can of Zappel or a can of Ice Lemon Tea…

Even if I walk Little Dan for an hour (at about 2 mph)… I only burn 150 calories…

The calories fact is so disheartening!
